Everest Medicines Launch VELSIPITY® in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area

Everest Medicines (HKEX 1952.HK, “Everest”, or the “Company”), a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, and commercialization of innovative therapeutics, has received official approval for VELSIPITY® for patients with ulcerative colitis by the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration. The medication will first be available at Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in the Greater Bay Area, in line with the “Hong Kong and Macau Medicine and Equipment Connect” policy. VELSIPITY® will subsequently be introduced in other qualified hospitals under this policy, marking the third commercialized product of Everest Medicines.

VELSIPITY® is an advanced therapy approved for the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in patients aged 16 and above. With the number of UC patients in China expected to double by 2030, there is a significant need for innovative therapies. Everest Medicines is committed to providing patients with access to advanced treatments and plans to submit VELSIPITY® for new drug application in mainland China by the end of the year.

Everest Medicines has also submitted a new drug application for VELSIPITY® in Hong Kong, China.

VELSIPITY® is the first advanced oral therapy approved for use in patients 16 years and older in the EU. Clinical trials have shown positive results in both induction and maintenance treatment periods, with a good safety profile and convenient once-daily dosing. The medication provides a solid scientific basis for its wide application in clinical practice.
